Electric vehicle charging company Jolt has arrived in the capital, marking the occasion with a launch party attended by Transport Minister Simeon Brown.
The company, which also works in the out of home media space, has expanded from its locations in Ōtautahi Christchurch and Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland with its first free charging station for electric vehicles in Te Whanganui a Tara Wellington.
It also announced its first 100% digital roadside panels, integrated with the chargers, in the capital city, with more sites set to launch in the Greater Wellington region soon. Customers can download use Jolt app or website to view site locations.
Jolt’s advertising-funding model allows users to charge their vehicles for free, giving up to 50kms of driving range every day. Over the past year, it has seen a 250% increase in EV charging customers.
Jolt Country Manager, Chris Monaghan, says: “Our expansion into Wellington means JOLT has a presence in New Zealand’s three biggest cities. Brands now have the opportunity to reach both roadside broadcast audiences, and Jolt’s desirable EV driving audience, who have dwell times of up to 30 minutes at Jolt charging stations, while also engaging via the Jolt app where brands can communicate one on one with the EV driver.
“We’re deploying our digital out-of-home and charger network at pace, witnessed by our 250% increase in new users. We will continue to invest in New Zealand, as we are in other major global cities, including Sydney, Melbourne, London, Vancouver, and Toronto to name a few.
“Advertisers have really embraced the JOLT advertising solution, with client categories including telecommunications, banking, retail, FMCG, financial services, energy and EV automotive featuring in digital out-of-home and direct in-app campaigns.”

Jolt now has 70 LED screens live in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington.
