OTAGO, Today: Snow conditions at Cardrona Alpine Resort are incredible right now, just in time for some of New Zealand’s biggest winter events happening in August and September.
Yesterday’s polar blast brought another layer of fresh snow to both Cardrona and Treble Cone, adding to an already solid base. Winter isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!
Next week marks the start of Winter Games NZ, featuring two World Cup freeski and snowboard events—the first in New Zealand since 2019. August will also see Winter Pride, followed by the Monster Energy Jossi Wells Invitational in September, and the New Zealand Freestyle Nationals in October.
“It’s incredibly exciting to be back into the swing of major events at Cardrona.” – Laura Hedley
Winter Games NZ will showcase Aotearoa’s best athletes competing against the world. Visitors at Cardrona can catch the action, with top names like Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, Nico Porteous, and international stars Eileen Gu, Alex Ferreira, Marcus Kleveland, and Dusty Henricksen.
Cardrona Parks is busy prepping courses for the Winter Games NZ, including Australasia’s only full-length World Cup halfpipe.
“It’s incredibly exciting to be back into the swing of major events at Cardrona,” says Cardrona and Treble Cone GM, Laura Hedley. “We encourage everyone to come up and check out all the action.”
Treble Cone’s season continues until September 29th, with excellent snow coverage across the mountain for plenty of fun before closing day.
