AUCKLAND, Today: After years apart, Wilf Sweetland has teamed up once again with Declan Cahill and Leah Churchill-Brown to write a new chapter for one of Australia’s most respected production companies, Exit Films.
Wilf began his career at Exit in 1998 as a runner, then rejoined in 2003 as part of a director-producer team with Mark Molloy. Now, he’s back again, this time as co-managing partner alongside Declan.
Together, Wilf and Declan will lead Exit across Australia and New Zealand, while Leah takes on the role of executive producer in Australia.
Wilf shared, “I had been talking with Declan and Leah for a long time. We realised that there was a power in how we worked together and the fit was too good to let slip.”
He added, “Exit has always been a storytelling-based commercial production company, with a true commitment to creativity, and I have always had the utmost respect for the directors and their craft.”
“Wilf has been part of Exit’s history and DNA for decades. His experience, wisdom, and most importantly, his desire to create good work with a strong roster of directors will be a huge benefit.” – Glendyn Ivin
Declan is also excited about their collaboration, stating, “Wilf and I worked together during the latter stages of his last time at Exit. We are very excited to add his skill-set and recognised passion for embracing creatively driven work.”
Leah chimed in with her thoughts, saying, “I am very, very excited to have another like-minded friend and collaborator at Exit. Our interests and skill sets vary, which is a plus.”
Director Garth Davis expressed his excitement about Wilf’s return: “I feel very excited that Wilf is returning home to shepherd our talented directors, with the heart and soul that is Exit.”
Glendyn Ivin added, “Wilf has been part of Exit’s history and DNA for decades. His experience, wisdom, and most importantly, his desire to create good work with a strong roster of directors will be a huge benefit.”
Wilf brings a wealth of experience, including award-winning work and his role on the Advertising Council of Australia. Most importantly, he’s known for being a true people person, which aligns perfectly with Exit’s future success.
