JCDecaux is expanding its digital portrait Smartframe network with seven new sites planned in Q4 2024, growing the total number from 27 to 34. Auckland will now feature 17 screens, with a focus on key retail hubs, while the first Smartframes will be introduced in regional areas – Hamilton and Palmerston North.
Smartframe is designed for maximum impact. Its elevated positioning, combined with its ability to reach valuable audiences, sets it apart as a standout format. The network targets aspirational audiences with spending power, particularly those aged 24-401. This expansion brings the Smartframe network’s reach to over 900,0002 nationwide.
Phil Eastwood, General Manager of JCDecaux New Zealand, says, “We’re investing heavily in growing our SmartFrame network, including outside the three main cities and into regional NZ. Clients now have greater access to valuable audiences across key regional markets. As we continue to capitalise on development opportunities across the country, our network will grow to a total of 50 frames by the end of 2025.
“The new additions to our Smartframe network offer brands high-impact visibility in prime retail locations, ensuring they engage with shoppers as we head into the busiest retail season. This expansion provides advertisers with more opportunities to connect with potential customers, enhancing both reach and campaign effectiveness.”
The OOHMAA 2024 *Aotearoa in Motion* study showed that shopping is the top reason Kiwis leave their homes, especially on weekends. With the strongest retail quarter ahead, brands will have even more chances to influence shoppers.
New sites at Auckland’s Sylvia Park and LynnMall, Hamilton’s Centre Place, and Palmerston North’s The Plaza are expected to reach an additional 33.6 million shoppers annually. A new site in Kumeu taps into the area’s fast-growing residential and commercial developments.
Smartframe also supports programmatic trading. The near-standard 9:16 ratio allows brands to extend digital or social campaigns seamlessly. It serves as a powerful priming media for advertisers focused on driving digital conversions.
