This Christmas, Spark is encouraging New Zealanders to ‘give a gift that unleashes theirs’, aiming to show the power of a tech gift and the creative potential it can unleash in the right hands.
Developed in collaboration with Pixelpush, the hero film dives into a magical animated world brought to life on a tablet by a budding young artist. Drawing inspiration from the dreamworld and whimsical animations, the campaign immerses audiences in an illustrated world, capturing the power of creativity when combined with technology.
Derek Ireland, General Manager – Household Growth Spark, says, “Technology has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for emerging creatives. From a tablet for an up-and-coming artist, to speakers for the next big DJ, to a new phone for an aspiring content creator — there’s no denying that tech can accelerate creative potential. We wanted New Zealanders to imagine what technology could do for a loved one and show that with the right gift, this potential can be unleashed.”
Kimberley Ragan, Group Creative Director at Colenso BBDO, adds, “We all know the search for a meaningful gift can be a bit of a nightmare, and people don’t often think about technology as fulfilling that. Through this campaign, we want people to think differently about technology, because in the right creative hands, a tech gift can mean everything.”
As well as TV, the campaign has rolled out across online video, cinema, billboards, bus wraps, display banners and socials in the lead-up to Christmas, encouraging Kiwis to consider tech gifts that go beyond the surface – ones that open up doors and imaginations.
