WELLINGTON, Today: Wellington City Mission has been recognised on BestAds.com, earning Best Outdoor work for its massive seven-metre-high property ownership deed.
This follows the success of Wellington’s Greatest Deed, a fundraising campaign that raised $ 452,137 to help complete Whakamaru, a transformative new home for New Zealand’s most vulnerable.
The giant billboard wasn’t just an ad—it became a live property ownership deed. Updated weekly, it displayed the names of investors, tracking the campaign’s progress in real-time.
Adding to the spectacle, Sir Ashley Bloomfield abseiled down the building to sign the deed. The stunt captured widespread attention and boosted awareness.
“Breaking through the noise to create a tangible difference can be challenging in a climate where there are so many deserving causes, but Wellington City Mission has never been afraid to push the dial and be bold in order to cut through.” – Mark Forgan
All 1,258 spots on Wellington’s Greatest Deed were filled, allowing Wellington City Mission to complete Whakamaru’s construction and open debt-free.
Special’s Executive Creative Director Mark Forgan says, “Breaking through the noise to create a tangible difference can be challenging in a climate where there are so many deserving causes, but Wellington City Mission has never been afraid to push the dial and be bold in order to cut through.”
“Wellington’s Greatest Deed is a fame-driving campaign that generated headlines and got everyone involved, from those who benefit from the establishment of Whakamaru to all the joint property owners who donated.
“It has created a real sense of community and comradery that exceeds beyond the campaign. We’re thrilled to have this work recognised and want to thank everyone who played a role.”
BestAds has recognised the work as Best in the World.
