MediaWorks relocates

AUCKLAND, Today: MediaWorks has officially opened its new Hargreaves St premises, welcoming customers and media on behalf of its radio and outdoor businesses.

MediaWorks chairman Jack Matthews said: “The former storage warehouse has been custom built into a 4440 square metre media hub, representing the future of MediaWorks Group as it continues to focus on the growth and success of its radio and out-of-home divisions, ensuring both maintain their market-leading position with over 2.4 million weekly listeners and 1,700 advertising panels across the country.

“With 110,000 kilograms of gib board, 210 kilometres of wood and 137 kilometres of cable, the property was built by Hawkins and is home to nine radio stations and 16 radio studios as well as MediaWorks’ out-of-home division, QMS.

“The build was designed by leading commercial architecture firm Warren and Mahoney and also features a bespoke Autex treatment in reception – the first of its kind.

“The technology that underpins the content delivery from Hargreaves St represents a significant upgrade in capability and is one of the world’s largest deployments of audio-over-IP.

“This is a huge milestone for MediaWorks with this property representing the future of our business.”

“It also has built-in video capability and is one of the first sites in NZ to provide fully digital services right up to the transmission endpoint, providing our presenters and content teams with a customised toolbox of touch screen technology at their fingertips.

“The core platforms were designed and implemented with the help of LAWO/PAT and Broadcast Bionics/AVC.

“It has been a three-year journey to opening the doors with MediaWorks beginning the search for a new home for its radio brands in 2017. After extensive research, the location was decided in 2018 with work beginning in September the same year, followed by fitout commencing from January 2019.

“Our radio and outdoor brands began relocating from their existing premises from June 2020.

“This is a huge milestone for MediaWorks with this property representing the future of our business.

“Bringing our brands together into one home is the next step in enabling our business to have a greater strategic focus on the long-term growth and success of our radio and out-of-home channels.”
