LONDON, Today: NZ agencies have five campaigns through to the shortlist of the Craft and Side Hustle categories at D&AD, announced overnight – Clemenger BBDO Wellington has three finalists, DDB Aotearoa has two, and Special Group NZ has one.
These results will be followed by a second shortlist for the Advertising, Culture, Design, Impact and Next categories next Tuesday 18 May.
- Clemenger’s successes came for Unite Against Covid-19 (in Writing for Design), and Voice of Racism (in Art Direction, and Writing for Design).
- DDB scored for McDonald’s Reflections (in Photography), and Emerson’s Tiny Pub (in Art Direction).
- Special is through with Meddle in the New Zealand Election (in Writing for Design)
“2021 has seen a substantial increase in entries from nearly all regions, including Oceania [includes NZ].”
D&AD COO Dara Lynch said: “This year’s submissions have returned to – and in some cases, surpassed – pre-pandemic figures.”
“2021 has seen a substantial increase in entries from nearly all regions. Western Asia & India have seen the most significant change with an uplift of 47% since 2019, followed by Oceania [includes NZ] 42%, USA and Canada 41%, Latin America 28%, UK 22%, Africa 19%, Europe 12% and China 9%.
The awards presentation will take place across two separate virtual ceremonies on the 26 & 27 May (watch for it in M+AD).
