Former StopPress editor, Courtney Devereux, has launched a new site titled Nak-Ed, New Zealand’s first content website with a focus on sex, sexuality, diversity, inclusion and mental health.
Nak-Ed aims to provide education, advice, entertainment and real-life experiences to encourage readers to join more openly into typically taboo conversations. The site aims to inform and support through growing comfortable dialogue that is often overlooked by mainstream media.
Nak-Ed’s focus is backed by its Key Content Partners, with the model working alongside these partners to structure content, provide opinions and briefs on important industry topics.
Key content partners include New Zealand’s largest sex toy retailer, Adult Toy Mega Store (ATMS), New Zealand Prostitutes Collective (NZPC), Family Planning, Rainbow Youth, Talk Peach and individuals such as one of the world’s leading authorities on Sextech, Bryony Cole, and Art Therapist with a focus on sexual and gender diversity Mary Weir.
The site also features contributors such as former Idealog editor, Elly Strang, and former NZ Marketing magazine editor, Erin McKenzie.
Nak-Ed’s Founder and former StopPress and Register editor-in-chief, Courtney Devereux says;
“There is a clear gap in the market in how we educate and foster comfortable narratives regarding taboo subjects.
“Nak-Ed aims to better support our diverse communities through inclusive journalism, and we hope to become the go to platform for those seeking information, education and reassurance regarding those harder to talk about subjects.
“We have worked hard to find the right content partners and contributors that can support us in this mission and have been blown away by the support we have received already.”
Adulttoymegastore’s owner and operator Nicola Relph says they’re thrilled to partner with Nak-Ed.
“All of our work as an online retailer is based around the idea that people deserve and need a healthy sex life. For the past ten years, since Adulttoymegastore opened, we have been committed to providing advice, products, education and empowerment to our customers. We are excited to continue to support people in having great sex, loving their bodies, and having a healthy attitude toward sex and sexuality in our partnership with Nak-Ed.
“We are so proud to work with Nak-Ed’s editorial team and content partners to rid New Zealand (and the world!) of the stigma around discussing sex and sexuality. We know people want to talk about it, so we are excited about the conversation starting!”
Bryony Cole says of the launch: “The conversation on sexuality is evolving by the day. Now, more than ever, the world needs a source for up-to-date resources on sexual health and education and fresh perspectives on intimacy. As technology plays a part in so much of our daily lives, I’m excited to see the sextech industry being represented so thoughtfully in Nak-ed.”
