AUCKLAND, Today: NZ Herald senior reporter Jane Clifton is warning cannabis referendum supporters to be careful of what they’re voting for.
“Anyone who approaches the referendum is in for a few surprises,” she writes, warning that the proposed law treats cannabis not as a harmless pleasure, but as a medical threat deserving of intervention.
“Its overarching purpose is to discourage its use.
“Too many rules. The current environment is much more fun.”
“Those hailing an economic bonanza may be right – but the law would make new cannabis entrepreneurs behave in ways that will be antithetical to their commercial interests.”
As a long-time pot enthusiast, M+AD ed David Gapes agrees: “That’s why I voted AGAINST in the referendum.
“Too many rules,” he said. “The current environment is much more fun, and a useful source of income for those in real need.”
