Do you own more than you think? Colenso BBDO and State introduce visual calculator – Tally

Colenso BBDO and State Insurance have joined forces to launch visual calculator Tally, which helps time-poor Kiwis get a better understanding of how much their possessions are worth.

Many people tend to only link value to their homes and cars, however in 2019, the average New Zealand household had over $ 100,000 worth of items inside it. This total includes everything from clothes to coffee tables, ovens to entertainment systems, and so on.

Still, State’s research reveals more than half of Kiwis believe they don’t have enough items to be worth insuring.

State marketing manager, Gabrielle Markwick-Brown, says Tally aims to educate Kiwis on how quickly items can add up.

“Kiwis are pretty on to it when it comes to insuring big, one-off items, like cars and houses, but far too many of us are underestimating the total value of our belongings.”

Tally lets users quickly add items from a list of 25 popular categories, adjust the average value based on what they own, and add custom items. The calculator is free of insurance jargon, easy to use and provides users with a good idea of just how much they own.

Executive creative director at Colenso BBDO, Maria Devereux, says Tally aligns with State’s method of keeping things simple for their customers.

“We think people are going to be surprised at the total value of their belongings and hopefully compelled to make sure they’re protected at the end of the day.”

Tally went live on November 1 and has been rolled out nationwide via a fully integrated campaign across TV, OOH digital and social channels.
