Publishers soar with lockdown

AUCKLAND, Today: Business site Scoop says New Zealanders are turning to local trustworthy news sources for information as they grapple with lockdown.

Scroll Media partner publishers have reported a big spike in visitors since level 4 lockdown rules were implemented, with South Island media giant ODT & Canterbury Star reporting a 55% jump in traffic with 634,000 visitors in last week.

Finance site Interest.co.nz had a 43% jump in traffic in the last week with 430,000 views, as people have more time to assess their financial situation while working from home. Business site Scoop has seen an 11% increase in traffic since lockdown.

Scroll Media managing director Jane Ormsby said: “Visits to our publisher sites has increased over the last 12 days with people staying at home and turning to their local trusted news sources for information and entertainment.
