AUCKLAND, Today: TBWA\New Zealand and The Warehouse ask us to spare a thought for the Dads, in a warming new spot celebrating all Dad does this Fathers Day.
The 30-second spot uses a Dad singing about all he does for his girls to The Proclaimers track, I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).
The Warehouse chief customer officer Jonathan Waecker said: “From eating the leftover sandwiches, to playing dress up and catching spiders, this piece of film celebrates all that our Dads do.
“Kiwi Dads are a modest bunch with Fathers Day only being celebrated by 63% of New Zealanders. After some tough times in and out of lockdowns, The Warehouse wanted to ensure we spare a thought for our Dads this weekend.
“We wanted to celebrate Kiwi Dads and show all they do in a fun, positive light while recognising the big role they play in our kids’ lives.
“Kiwi Dads are a modest bunch with Fathers Day only being celebrated by 63% of New Zealanders.”
“This is especially true during a lockdown. There will be Dads across the country turning their hand to all sorts as they discover creative ways to keep their kids educated and entertained.”
TBWA\NZ chief creative officer Shane Bradnick said: “It’s a fun spot that shows just how special Dads are. It also reminds people to take that extra moment this Fathers Day to say thanks.
“Although we didn’t plan for a lockdown, we also wanted a spot that showed a Covid-friendly family bubble applicable to any alert level.
“Director Zoe McIntosh did a great job capturing the story, and a shout out to our Dad who nails his own version of The Proclaimers classic.”
The campaign will also be rolling out in TV, digital and radio.
