New Zealand tourism has announced a new annual event dedicated to digital transformation for marketers, with the launch of Destination: Digital.
Digital is driving extraordinary change throughout the tourism industry, with marketing and distribution being at the coal face of this transformation. Created for savvy tourism marketers, the Destination: Digital event brings together industry thought leaders including Stephen England-Hall, Jodi Williams and Shaun Fitzgibbons along with well-known tourism brands in order to help tourism embrace a bold new marketing landscape.
Held in Wynyard Quarter, Auckland on 7 December, the event offers tourism professionals the opportunity to attend two important industry events – Destination: Digital on the 7th, followed by the TEC Xmas symposium on 8 December.
Run by Maverick Digital, Destination: Digital was conceived after brainstorming ways tourism could leverage marketing and digital to supercharge recovery in 2022.
Founder/CEO Alex Dykman says: “There is so much research, insights and future-thinking going on right now at the intersection of digital and tourism marketing. This event aims to amplify those learnings in a way that is both thought-provoking and down-to-earth.”
Dykman strives to emphasise that this is not your “normal” conference day.
“Workshops, practical takeaways and as much ‘doing’ and connecting as talking – that’s what us marketers love, and that’s the dream,” he says.
Programme Director for Go With Tourism, Matt Stenton, believes the digital space will play a huge role in recovering the Tourism workforce over the next few years, particularly for hiring youth.
Stenton says: “For example, we know how much time our rangatahi spend on their phone, so how do we tap into that? Not just for marketing, but for recruitment and upskilling too?”
Early bird tickets will go on sale from October. To register, click here.
