Attain has always proudly conveyed their message of “Great people create remarkable business”. Part of how Attain is able to uphold this message is by recruiting people whose values align with theirs.
Recently, Mike Hutcheson joined the team’s advisory board, bringing with him an extensive and impressive CV.
Leveraging his decades of industry experience, Hutcheson is also the proud creator of the ‘Periodic Table of Innovation’, a tool that guides users in identifying the vital elements for business success.
“After seeing Mike speak at the NZME building many years ago, I picked up a copy of his ‘Periodic Table of Innovation’. I actually ended up using it as a resource for students to reference when I was lecturing entrepreneurship at AUT,” says Attain CEO Sharn Piper.
“From there, I reached out to Mike so we could catch up and start exploring opportunities for us to work together.”
Before he held the title of Managing Director of Saatchi and Saatchi, he co-founded Hutcheson Knowles Marinkovich and Colenso BBDO, a creative agency that has delivered iconic work for brands like Vodafone, Air New Zealand, Burger King, and Fisher & Paykel.
He has authored four books and writes an Innovation column in Idealog magazine. In addition to his remarkable professional history, Hutcheson is the holder of the 2012 Business Columnist of the Year award, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has a Master of Philosophy degree (with 1st Class Honours).
“What will succeed in the future requires some imagination of the future itself. The real trick is to interpret good ideas and develop thinking within the business that will enable people to take advantage of what might be in the future,” Hutcheson says.
“And I believe Attain is the future of agency.”
“With Mike’s industry experience and experience as a CEO, he’s someone we can bounce ideas off of and make sure we’re headed in the right direction,” Piper says.
Hutcheson remarks: “When it comes to business, you need to identify what you’re good at, what you’re passionate about, and what the market wants. And the secret to success is to find that sweet spot where those three things intersect. As Attain’s Strategic Advisor, I’ll be supporting the team in identifying that sweet spot.”
