In a world where nearly everyone is always online, there is no offline.

Augusto and SAFE stand against animal abuse

A nationwide campaign from Augusto and SAFE For Animals is asking people to call out animal abuse within the farming industry.

The campaign sees farm workers switch roles with abused animals and as encourages people to use 0800 EXPOSE, the animal charity’s new phone line for reporting animal abuse in the farming industry.

Augusto Commercial Director, Amy Dufty, says the team were “incredibly keen to be involved” when SAFE approached them.

“New Zealanders are in the habit of calling out human abuse as it occurs, but don’t seem to do the same for animals.”

Through this campaign, SAFE and Augusto pose the question ‘if it were your workmate, would you call it out?’, asking Kiwis is they would take action if the abused were their colleagues.

Debra Ashton at SAFE says that as part of SAFE’s commitment the phone line aims to get more people, particularly in the agriculture industry and community to report any form of abuse they might see.

“We needed a campaign to get the message out and Augusto has helped deliver a powerful message.”

Adam Thompson, ECD of Augusto says it was decided that the campaign would not use horrifying images of animals that are often used in animal charity campaigns and instead show the abuse in a different way.

The campaign launched on September 5 and is running across New Zealand in print, social, digital and radio. The phone line is now live.
