Five new members have joined the Motion Sickness team, increasing the agency’s capacity and client offering.
After working with Motion Sickness on a number of projects, Kātene Durie-Doherty (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Kauwhata, Kai Tahu, Rangitāne, Rongowhakaata, Ngāti Raukawa) officially joins the team in a new role, Kaitaunaki Māori.
The position will include both internal and external mahi, with Durie-Doherty working to help grow Māori communications in Aotearoa for both public and private sector clients, applying his knowledge and expertise in strategy to a wide range of Motion Sickness client work.
Durie-Doherty says now is an opportune time to be with a creative agency that is focusing on “building narratives through the hearts and minds of our communities, businesses and change-makers”.
“Narratives that shape the creativity, passion and aspiration for what matters most for our clients. Narratives that continue to build the blueprint for what defines and shapes us as a Te Tiriti centric Aotearoa.”
Hamish Steptoe also brings his skills to Cross Street, as Senior Art Director / Designer. With an impressive portfolio and years of experience, Steptoe brings a highly skilled creative brain, and a top notch beanie selection to the creative department.
“Whatever’s going on at Motion Sickness is different to the status quo, and I’m looking forward to learning some new tricks. They say you spend more time with your workmates than your family, and going on first impressions of my first few weeks, I’m cool with that.”
Talented creative duo Andrew Hathaway and Kelly France have recently joined Motion Sickness as intermediate creatives, and have hit the ground running.
The pair say they have been big fans of the work coming out of Motion Sickness so couldn’t say no when the opportunity came up.
“The team are a bunch of creative wizards with exceptional chat. We’re already getting stuck into some really exciting work and are looking forward to the ride,” they add.
With a wealth of experience in the local media landscape, Dom Meehan has been appointed as Head of Media. After Josh Hawke’s departure to London, Meehan will be working to grow Motion Sickness’ integrated media offering even further.
“It’s an exciting time to be operating within an integrated advertising offering – pairing media strategy centred around effectiveness, with distinctive creative to deliver on brand growth. I’m looking forward to collaborating with the creative team and our clients to produce some great work,” he says.
Sam Stuchbury, Motion Sickness Executive Creative Director, says being able to hire some of the best in the business is a privilege he and the team don’t take lightly.
“What connects our motley crew is the drive to make some of the most creative work for the most ambitious brands.”
