AUCKLAND, Today: Mango Communications Aotearoa and Booking.com took home two awards at the recent Rainbow Excellence Awards for their Travel Proud campaign – the Rainbow Tick Training & Development Award and the Pride Pledge Representation in Marketing Award. They were also finalists in the Impact category.
Coinciding with last year’s Winter Pride festival in Queenstown, Booking.com’s Travel Proud campaign represented LGBTIQ+ communities in marketing, by raising awareness and sharing experiences through real-life travel stories from local LGBTIQ+ talent, alongside fundraising support for rainbow charities.
Awards director/judging convenor Martin King, said: “We were genuinely impressed with how Mango stepped up to bring Booking.com’s global brand mission to life throughout New Zealand.
“Building LGBTIQ+ awareness with properties to create a safe and welcoming experience for rainbow travellers is a critical piece of work and the scale of reach and impact that the team has achieved is outstanding.
“This campaign is a gold standard case study on what is possible, and we know this is just the start.
“We are so proud to be taking home two fantastic awards and have our work recognised for its positive impact on LGBTIQ+ communities.”
“Mango has been working with Booking.com for seven years and this was their first campaign at Winter Pride. This year, Mango and Booking.com returned to the festival as platinum sponsors delivering an extension of the Travel Proud campaign.
Booking.com’s Simon Clark said: “Following the launch of this campaign more than 1200 properties across Australia and New Zealand are now being recognised for their inclusive hospitality efforts with a Travel Proud badge on Booking.com.”
Mango MD Sean Brown said: “We are so proud to be taking home two fantastic awards and to have our work recognised for having a positive impact on LGBTIQ+ communities.
“The Rainbow Excellence Awards celebrate leadership, innovation and best practice which is something we always strive to achieve at Mango. We are looking forward to continuing to authentically represent LGBTIQ+ communities in our work and delivering amazing results for Booking.com.”
