AUCKLAND, Today: Stuff has appointed Matt Headland to the role of executive commercial director. He was formerly chief executive of performance marketing agency Glass Elephant, and has a strong commercial background in media, e-commerce, and the music industry that spans 25 years.
He has a strong track record of delivering accelerated brand, marketing, commercial and profit growth in businesses like NZME and MediaWorks, as well as start-up businesses in highly competitive local and global markets.
Stuff ceo Sinead Boucher said: “Matt has a really compelling mix of experience that is highly aligned to Stuff’s future direction.
“As commercial director he will be responsible for working alongside our business customers, to help them reach their customers through advertising, content and broader partnerships.
“He will also lead our commercial team to form partnerships that generate new value for Stuff as we seek to grow our audience and further build relevance in the lives of all New Zealanders.”
“Matt has a strong commercial background in media, e-commerce, and the music industry, spanning 25 years.”
Headland, who joins Stuff on 14 November, says he’s eager to get back to the media industry after nearly three years building and scaling Glass Elephant globally.
“I am extremely excited to work within an organisation that is fiercely independent and follows no one,” he said.
“Stuff has built its unrivalled audience on being progressive at its core – this resonates with me deeply. It’s an absolute privilege to join the team and work across Aotearoa to evolve and grow positive and proactive commercial relationships.”
Andy Symonds exits
Stuff’s current chief revenue officer Andy Symons is leaving the business on November 11.
“Andy has been a hugely valuable member of the team, always generous in sharing his insights, experience and time with all of us,” Boucher said.
“We will really miss him at Stuff, and wish him all the very best for his next chapter.”
