Stuff invests in rural sector with two new appointments

In a move to support aggressive growth in the rural sector, Stuff has appointed Lee Piper as Head of Rural Revenue and Kate Boreham as Business Director – Rural.

Stuff Executive Commercial Director Matt Headland says Lee and Kate will work across all of Stuff’s rural audiences and commercial teams nationwide to drive audience and revenue growth.

“Lee and Kate are among the market’s most experienced rural media leaders so this is a significant opportunity to supercharge growth across our market-leading audience and provide innovative commercial opportunities for existing and new customers through new cross-channel integration,” says Headland.

Piper has worked in the media industry for the past 30 years, holding senior roles within The Radio Network and NZME, including GM of the South Island. He led the national rollout of the rural content and commercial strategy for NZME. Most recently he has been Head of Commercial South Island for Sports Entertainment Network New Zealand (SENZ).

“Stuff’s nationwide footprint in both traditional and digital media reaches 82 percent* of the rural audience, meaning we have a strong opportunity to develop innovative solutions that help advertisers reach heartland New Zealand,” says Piper.

Boreham has a decade of experience in marketing, commercial sales and leadership roles. As Sales Manager for NZME’s South Island Regional Markets, she developed and rolled out a range of new revenue initiatives, led integrated brief responses and worked alongside the rural team to implement NZME’s rural content and commercial strategy. In the past 18 months, Boreham has worked as a Commercial Manager at SENZ.

“I am looking forward to reconnecting with rural customers across New Zealand and developing innovative multi-channel solutions to help them reach, connect and influence their customers,” says Boreham.
