An initiative that aims to spread the love this Valentine’s Day has once again won the support of Go Media to put LOVE on billboards across New Zealand – just for the fun of it.
What if everywhere you looked, all you saw was love? That’s the question the Love on Every Billboard movement asks. Originally starting in the US, the initiative was founded by a man named John Pogachar who asked, “wouldn’t it be amazing to buy a billboard without it needing to sell or promote anything except for love?”
The idea soon caught on and now has spread across the world including to New Zealand. The first 22 billboards appeared over the weekend of March 14 and 15 2020, the first anniversary of the Christchurch Mosque shootings, and a Give-a-little page was set up to help the movement continue its momentum.
Go Media soon came on board and in 2022 offered to spread the love to 55 sites across New Zealand. Now there are 750+ LOVE billboards around the world to date, including one in Russia.
“I so love the idea that Go Media has caught the fever and for a couple years now has used their medium to fill the skies with the simple but powerful word of LOVE on Valentine’s Day,” Pogachar says.
“LOVE is all around us in our lives, the lives of our children, family, friends, nature, art, our work, food…..thank you New Zealand for embracing who we all are.”

Susannah Kenton, the organiser behind the New Zealand movement, said the concept of spreading love with no agenda piqued her interest and, despite initially not knowing how to go about organising billboards, she enjoyed the challenge.
She says Go Media “had a spirit of enthusiasm to go above and beyond”.
A Go Media spokesperson says: “It’s a pleasure to collaborate with Susannah and her team again to spread LOVE on every billboard this Valentine’s Day.
“We have a long history of supporting our local communities and are constantly finding ways to lend our nationwide digital billboard network to those wanting to create positive social impacts in Aotearoa.”
This year Love on Every Billboard NZ is asking Kiwis to comment why they would put love on a billboard to go in to win the chance to see their name up on one too.
