Suzuki New Zealand, with the help of Wellington-based agency Hemisphere, has launched an ‘arresting’ advertising campaign, to celebrate the launch of the new Suzuki Vitara Hybrid.
Hemisphere was tasked with developing a campaign that would highlight the affordability of this latest hybrid model, while capturing the playfulness Suzuki’s brand has become synonymous with.
“Once again, the Hemisphere team has pulled off a fun and creative campaign for Suzuki. We’re thrilled to build off the success of last year’s campaigns with another unique piece of comedy,” says Dr Tim Antric from Hemisphere.
The Vitara has a reputation for having an adventurous off-road attitude, allowing drivers to break free from suburbia in the perfect getaway vehicle and is now available as a hybrid for a steal of under $ 40k (with the Clean Car Rebate).
Hemisphere developed the creative direction for the new Vitara Hybrid based on this criminal thought, which is amplified in the TV commercial with a tongue-in-cheek scene of mistaken identity, where a police officer believes the driver is guilty of more than just having a good time in their new Vitara Hybrid.
Hemisphere’s approach with the TVC (produced by Generate) was to highlight the traditional features such as the cars’ price points, and key features but presented in an unexpected way.
This was the largest production investment Suzuki New Zealand have made in recent years, producing a 30 second and 15 second cut-down version of the commercial, highlighting the importance of the Vitara Hybrid to the fleet. The light-hearted creative approach continued with the production of a national radio commercial, tuning in to a Police dispatcher as they highlight some of the specs and price, requesting the vehicle be apprehended on site.
Gary Collins, GM of Suzuki NZ says: “Suzuki celebrated its best year ever in 2022. New Zealanders know that every Suzuki is great value and with the new Vitara Hybrid we’ve added the hybrid option to one of New Zealand’s best loved SUVs.”
