AUCKLAND, Wednesday: Sky has promoted Thomas Robins as its new head of Sky Originals. Prior to starting at Sky in the Originals team two years ago, Robins spent 20 years as a writer, director and producer of drama, comedies, films and documentaries.
He co-owned a production company based in Wellington and won New Zealand’s first international Emmy.
He said: “I’m flattered to be stepping into the role that my dear friend and colleague Annie Murray recently vacated. Big shoes to fill.
“I’m no Annie but look forward to carrying on her wonderful legacy.”
“I’m no Annie but look forward to carrying on her wonderful legacy and mahi and building Sky Originals by supporting exciting local creatives and telling brilliant stories from Aotearoa, New Zealand.”
Robins retains his position as commissioner of scripted content and will continue to work closely with Caroline Joll, legal counsel for Sky Originals. Together they aim to build the Sky Originals team and work to grow an “exciting slate full of wonderful projects”.
