Good, the popular lifestyle magazine published by SCG Media, is bringing back the Best of Natural Awards for 2023 with a stellar line up of judges.
The Awards set the standard for excellence in natural, ethical, and sustainable health and wellness and showcase the best of natural brands, and are judged with a set of objective criteria to ensure full transparency and integrity.
Judges confirmed for Best of Natural Awards 2023 are Liz McNamara, registered naturopath, herbalist and cosmetic chemist; Sara Corlieson, founder of Tailor Skincare; and respected beauty editor Melissa Williams-King.
“We are absolutely delighted to have secured a stellar team of independent judges who each bring a breadth of experience and knowledge to the table,” says Good magazine Editor Carolyn Enting.
Entries to the Best of Natural Awards are now open across seven categories – skincare, make-up, body, hair, health & supplements, eco-lifestyle and food & drink. Entries close 1 August 2023.
About the judges:
Liz McNamara is a registered Naturopath, Medical Herbalist and Cosmetic Chemist, with a career spanning over 20 years in natural health and skincare.
As a leader within the industry and Chair of Naturopaths & Medical Herbalists of New Zealand, McNamara is driven to progress the integration of naturopathic medicine in Aotearoa. McNamara is an advocate for high-performing skincare rich in natural actives, and ethical brands that are making a positive difference to people and the planet.
As a third-time judge for the Best of Natural Awards, McNamara is delighted to discover the latest in wellness – bringing you the best of the best in Aotearoa. This year, she’s eager to see more brands innovate and raise the bar to inspire your natural, sustainable choices.
You’ll find McNamara’s work featured across renowned platforms and editorials – from Good magazine, HealthPost, Consumer NZ, and Holistic Performance Institute, where she’s regularly asked to share her voice on topical and trending natural health topics. She’s a thought leader in the industry and passionate ambassador for ethical brands that share her ethos to give back.
Sara Corlieson is the founder and entrepreneur behind Tailor Skincare. Starting the company in her kitchen she grew Tailor into one of New Zealand’s most loved natural skincare brands. Corlieson’s early adoption of a digital first approach with Tailor Skincare blazed a trail in the social media marketing space. But it was Corlieson’s passion for R&D and natural ingredient discovery that grew a loyal online following and led her to develop Tailor Renew – New Zealand’s first ever probiotic skincare along with many other multi award winning natural skincare products loved by thousands of Kiwis. Corlieson sold Tailor Skincare in 2022 and is expanding her horizons into the sustainable cultivation and optimisation of natural ingredients.
Melissa Williams-King is a journalist with more than 20 years’ experience covering the beauty industry and beauty products. She has held editor roles at Fashion Quarterly and SHE magazine and worked as a beauty editor for multiple magazines including New Idea, Cleo, Girlfriend, Seventeen, Sunday and The Australian Women’s Weekly. Moving from print media to online, she has also held beauty editor roles at beautydirectory, MSN New Zealand and stuff.co.nz (as style director). On the brand side, she has created content for Korean beauty brand Rojank, beauty booking site Bookwell.com and The Face Place, a leading New Zealand medspa.
Throughout her beauty editor career Williams-King has written about and rated thousands of hair, skin and makeup products and has overseen beauty awards at several publications. She has followed in depth the trend towards organic and sustainable beauty products over the past 20 years and is excited to see the latest innovations in this category for Good magazine’s Best of Natural Awards. As a beauty editor always keen to make the most out of her blow-dry, she also created her own brand, Bunbathers ponytail swim caps.
