SailGP has appointed True as its New Zealand advertising and design agency for its fourth season of the global racing championship.
Founded in 2019 by Larry Ellison and Russell Coutts, SailGP – which stands for Sail Grand Prix – is a whole new kind of racing. The world’s fastest-growing sports and entertainment property, SailGP sees state-of-the-art F50 catamarans fly at speeds of up to 100km/h in impossibly close- to-shore races. The league’s fourth season includes 12 stops in iconic venues around the world, featuring a first-ever event in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. The event follows the success of SailGP’s sold-out debut in Christchurch this March.
SailGP will be working with True to launch the season 4 campaign in New Zealand, centered around the Auckland event and bringing the SailGP brand to more audiences across the motu.
Karl Budge, APAC Commercial Director for SailGP says: “Throughout the proposal process, we felt enormous synergies with the team at True. Their understanding of our brand, our purpose, and ambition to take SailGP to new heights in New Zealand was innate. This is the season where SailGP races ahead, getting people around the world hooked on this new category of racing. We’re thrilled to have True with us on that journey.”
Matt Dickinson, CEO of True says: “We’re excited to be working with the local and global SailGP teams to bring this event to life. Auckland has always been known as the City of Sails, but we’ve never seen sailing quite like this.”
The Auckland event will take place on March 23rd-24th, 2024.
