AUCKLAND, Today: Sky, as New Zealand’s exclusive broadcaster for the Paris 2024 Olympics, plans to bring the event to viewers via Sky Sport, Sky Go, Sky Sport Now, and Sky Open. They aim for comprehensive coverage.

The network is set to cover the Olympics thoroughly, focusing on the participation of around 200 Kiwi athletes. This includes live events and studio coverage across more than 20 sports.

Sky’s programming features morning and evening review shows hosted by Kirstie Stanway and Laura McGoldrick, respectively. ‘The Crowd Goes Wild’ will focus on the Olympics, with Andrew Mulligan and James McOnie.

Rikki Swannell will commentate on rugby matches, with Kimberlee Downs, Jeff McTainsh, and Courtney Tairi capturing athletes’ reactions. Coverage spans across Sky Sport 3 and additional 24-hour channels.

Sky Open will offer free-to-air content, including key shows and live events. This ensures wide accessibility to the Olympics’ highlights and live action.

“The Olympics is an event like no other when it comes to broadcasting.”

“The Olympics is an event like no other when it comes to broadcasting,” says Sophie Moloney, Sky CEO. “Across eighteen days of sporting drama, power and passion, there are thousands of stories and moments of joy to share. Our approach gives Sky customers the choice to view in the way they want – immersing themselves totally in Olympics coverage, snacking on our bite-sized digital content which will serve up the most compelling, funny and amazing moments, or watching our free-to-air New Zealand-focused highlights which will give all New Zealanders the opportunity to enjoy the spectacle.”

The opening ceremony will be a spectacle along the River Seine, with events across France, including Tahiti for surfing. The settings promise to enhance the viewing experience.

Sophie Moloney expresses excitement about bringing the Olympics to New Zealand. She highlights the partnership with the IOC and NZOC, focusing on showcasing Kiwi athletes.
