AUCKLAND, Today: New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW) is shifting to a biennial schedule due to economic downturns affecting the fashion industry. The next event moves from August 2024 to late 2025.
Despite support from major sponsors like Shark Beauty, consumer confidence is low. This impacts the viability of a full week of events.
We’ve received clear feedback: designers need time to focus on their retail businesses. This pause helps consolidate resources and allows for bridge repairs at Wynyard Quarter, improving access to the Viaduct Events Centre.
NZFW’s switch to a biennial event aligns with a broader, mindful shift in the industry towards sustainability. This new schedule supports the industry’s and Auckland’s event calendars better.
The extra time will help participants prepare and secure financial support, ensuring NZFW remains a top-tier, innovative showcase.
We’ll update on the 2025 dates soon. Meanwhile, we thank everyone involved in the planned 2024 event and continue to support our designers. We stand beside you.
