Creators Aotearoa: Empowering charities, sharing creativity for good

With the aim of empowering charities and inspiring marketers to share their creativity for good, Jane King has set up collaboration platform Creators Aotearoa.

King, who is Brand Lead at One NZ, says working on app One Good Kiwi gave her insight into the difficulties not-for-profits face when it comes to effective marketing communications.

She’s launched Creators Aotearoa as a result, as a way to connect marketers who want to give back to charities who in turn are looking for marketing solutions.

“I consider myself lucky to work with so many charities in my day job, who are all doing so much good work,” says King.

“More often than not, a lot of these charities can get a little stuck with their marketing plans. Creators Aotearoa is a way to connect charities with creative minds and smart marketers who are wanting to share their skills for good.”

Charities can list their “Needs” on the platform’s website and creative marketers, including PR, marketing, strategy, art direction, copywriting, design, social practitioners, are invited to respond.

Ten charity needs have already been listed to kick things off and one has already been ‘connected’ to a Creator within a few hours of launching.

Laura Casey from The Cake Detective charity said: “This is awesome! Love how Jane is using her passion and network for good. We need more humans like her in the world. It is such a great idea because often it’s a where to start, who to talk to problem.”

Whilst the onus is on the not-for-profit and the marketer to make the magic truly happen, King hopes Creators Aotearoa will be the bridge the industry needs to make the worthy causes more creative and ultimately, more effective.

“It might simply be a social media post idea or providing longer term strategic thinking, there are so many ways those in the marketing industry can help a not-for-profit organisation. This new volunteering platform is all about connecting people and giving marketers the opportunity to help others,” she says.
