WAIKATO/BAY OF PLENTY, Today: King St, based in Waikato/Bay of Plenty, is celebrating 25 years in business. Quite an achievement for the full-service agency that started back in 1999.
“It’s been quite a challenging time lately,” says Director Chris Williams. “But on this occasion we’re going to make a bit of a song and dance as it’s a pretty solid milestone!”
King St was formed when Williams bought Russ Rimmington’s share of the business in 1999. “Russ had owned the agency for 20+ years and was the Mayor of Hamilton at the time, so he was ready for the change. He’s my second cousin and my Dad was his accountant, so we got the inside running,” says Williams.
“The main highlight for me has been the team of King St people, past and present, who I’ve had the privilege of working with over the years. In 25 years we’ve built a community we can all be proud of. Long live King St!” – Chris Williams
“We risked everything, maxed out our lending with the BNZ, and got a personal guarantee from my parents. There was no room for error, no plan b, and no choice other than to make it work.
“From there, we’ve built an agency that’s constantly punched above its weight and quietly got on with it. We have an excellent team and a really strong client list plus we’ve earned a great reputation around these parts. Along the way, we’ve put a lot of support behind the community with our various sponsorships.
