ThreeNews starts strong as audiences double screen with NZ’s top digital news site

AUCKLAND, Today: Aotearoa’s new 6pm news show, ThreeNews, is a hit! It’s pulling in big ratings on-air and driving more Kiwis to stuff.co.nz.

Saturday’s first ThreeNews bulletin grabbed a 19.3% share in the 25-54 demographic. That’s up from the 15.7% average and the 17.3% from last year*. Impressive, especially with Warriors and All Blacks games on.

Traffic to stuff.co.nz was up 10% over the weekend compared to last week**, thanks to innovative audience participation and familiar Stuff features like the Stuff Quiz in ThreeNews. Page views also increased by 17% this weekend**.

“We get New Zealand better than any other media organisation. We have been ramping up our first party data through registrations and audience engagement, including the much-loved Stuff Quiz.” – Matt Headland

Stuff Brand Connections MD Matt Headland says, “The launch of ThreeNews is the biggest TV event the country has seen so far this year…”

Strong numbers for TV, live streams, and Stuff’s digital audience show Stuff Group’s knack for shaping unique audience journeys.

“We get New Zealand better than any other media organisation. We have been ramping up our first party data through registrations and audience engagement, including the much-loved Stuff Quiz.

“As double screening continues to rise with the integration of the quiz and new opportunities for audiences to participate in the bulletin, we will deepen our ability to segment and target audiences and open up new commercial products for our partners,” says Headland.

Samantha Hayes hosts the first hour-long ThreeNews bulletin tonight at 6pm.
