AUCKLAND, Today: Following a high-profile journalist panel in May, the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand (PRINZ) will now hear from some of New Zealand’s emerging journalists about the future of the fourth estate.
The panel includes Ella Stewart (RNZ), Karanama Ruru (Stuff), Lyric Waiwiri-Smith (The Spinoff), and Sherry Zhang (Freelance), moderated by James Tapp, a Senior Account Executive at One Plus One Communications.
Organised by Tapp and Pippa Morris of PRINZ, this panel aims to understand how these young journalists feel about the current state of their industry and where they see potential changes.
“Our media industry is at a critical point in its history, with every development having a flow-on effect for the rest of society.”
“Our media industry is at a critical point in its history, with every development having a flow-on effect for the rest of society – and the views of our young journalists are essential to help inform and better understand the future of the fourth estate here in Aotearoa,” says Tapp.
The panel discussion will cover key topics like the impact of social media, rebuilding public trust, and the changing media landscape. After an hour of discussion, attendees can ask their own questions.
Susanne Martin, Chief Executive of PRINZ, says it’s time for everyone’s voices to be heard and for reflection on the media’s role.
“The relationships our members enjoy with media organisations work best when they’re symbiotic…we have a responsibility to foster constructive discussions about its future,” says Martin.
Join us on July 17 at 5:30pm. Tickets can be purchased through PRINZ below.
