AUCKLAND, Today: Volkswagen New Zealand and DDB Aotearoa have launched their latest campaign, YourVW, which is a heartfelt tribute to VW drivers.
The tagline We make the car, you make it VW was inspired by Volkswagen’s focus on the people behind the wheel, putting them at the heart of the brand.
Borrowing from the global YourWagen campaign, VW New Zealand set out to highlight the special bond Kiwis have with their Volkswagens.
Volkswagen’s Head of Marketing, Helena Schultz, explained that the ad replaces traditional driving shots with relatable moments, showing that a VW is more than just a car.
“We wanted to show that through all these real life moments – big or small – your VW is with you,” Schultz said.
DDB’s Executive Creative Director Rory McKechnie emphasised how the ad celebrates the stories Kiwis create with their Volkswagens.
“These are car ads that don’t feel like car ads. They’re light-hearted, fun and will definitely leave you smiling.” – Steve Gulik
“From lifelong friendships and unforgettable moments, to the drivers who’ve embraced the journey of going electric, these stories capture the true spirit of VW,” McKechnie said.
“Whether it’s trips to the beach or Sunday soccer games, we hope these experiences inspire future owners and resonate with everyone already part of the Volkswagen family.”
DDB Aotearoa teamed up with Takapuna-based production company The Post Office to produce three 15-second TVCs for the Tiguan, Touareg, and ID.Buzz models, plus a 30-second international TVC.
Steve Gulik, founder and director of The Post Office, said they followed the “fun over function” brief perfectly, bringing to life everyday Kiwi scenarios.
“These are car ads that don’t feel like car ads. They’re light-hearted, fun and will definitely leave you smiling,” Gulik said.
The campaign will roll out nationwide across multiple platforms, including TV, VOD, online, and social media.
