With Black Friday fever sweeping the nation, Westpac NZ has teamed up with brain drink innovator Ārepa to release the Westpac NZ x Ārepa Black Friday Hangover Prevention Drink.
It’s a limited-edition sparkling blackcurrant beverage crafted to help encourage calmness and mental clarity, helpful during the busy shopping season.
The promise of “great deals” can result in impulsive overspending and the dreaded “Black Friday hangover”. While Black Friday can offer a great opportunity to snap up a bargain or two, it can sometimes fuel the fear of missing out, which may lead to overindulgence or unplanned buys.
A recent survey[1] reveals that Kiwis plan to spend an average of $ 600 each this Black Friday which puts them at risk of being left with a nasty spending hangover from Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Sarah Williams, Chief Marketing Officer of Westpac NZ says, “At Westpac, we want to support our customers through the excitement and frenzy of Black Friday. We’ve created a fun and engaging way to encourage people, especially younger Kiwis, to approach the sales season mindfully to try and avoid the dreaded ‘Black Friday Hangover’ – that feeling of regret or overspending after impulsive purchases. It’s certainly not about ‘not shopping’, but about conscious shopping.
“To help promote mindful spending, we’ve teamed up with Ārepa to release the limited-edition Westpac NZ x Ārepa Black Friday Hangover Prevention Drink to serve as a gentle reminder to stay clear-headed, shop thoughtfully, and spend wisely.
“This is part of our wider campaign aimed at encouraging and empowering young shoppers to resist pressure to buy more than they need, know their limits and stick to them. We have great budgeting and spending analytics tools at shoppers’ disposal, specifically designed to help our customers make informed financial decisions and stay in control of their finances.”
Sam Dodd, Neuroscientist at Ārepa, says, “Our specially formulated and clinically tested drink contains Enzogenol Pine Bark Extract, L-theanine and our Neuroberry Blackcurrant which is enriched with vitamin C to aid calmness and mental clarity while reducing tiredness and supports neurological function. It’s the perfect drink to sip ahead of a trip around the shops on Black Friday.”
Available exclusively for a limited-edition Black Friday release on Friday the 29th of November, the Westpac x Ārepa Black Friday Hangover Prevention Drink will be distributed for free on a first-come, first-served basis at participating malls across Auckland.
