Funds management firm Fisher Funds has joined the family of sponsors for the Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Awards Ngā Tohu Pou Kōhure o Aotearoa.
The Legacy Award Te Pou Tūroa, first introduced last year, is now a permanent category and Fisher Funds has signed up as its inaugural sponsor.
It celebrates the people whose work has left an enduring legacy that will benefit generations to come and play a vital role in defining Aotearoa New Zealand’s national identity.

Celebrating contributions
Te Koruru Patron of the Awards Miriama Kamo shares how the concept of the new award came about.
“Every year, when our judges deliberate who will win the Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Award, they discuss if the work of the nominee is ‘of the year’ or if it reflects a lifetime of work. Out of this kōrero, the idea of the New Zealand Legacy Award Te Pou Tūroa o Aotearoa was born.
“It is about celebrating those who have made a lasting contribution to Aotearoa, helping to design a better future through their enduring mahi,” she said.
For the Fisher Funds team, there was a strong connection with the idea of leaving a legacy.
“For 26 years, we have been trusted to help New Zealanders plan for their future. Many of our clients consider the impact their financial legacies can make for their families and the community,” says Nilesh Mistry, Chief Client Officer at Fisher Funds.
