Seeking Sponsors: Support the First Nations Writers Festival 2025

AUCKLAND, Today: The First Nations Writers Festival (FNWF) is back for its highly anticipated 2025 edition, continuing its mission to celebrate Indigenous voices, cultures, and traditions through literature, art, and storytelling.

This festival has become a vital platform for Indigenous narratives, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and preserving the rich traditions of First Nations storytelling. It’s a space where stories are honoured, shared, and passed down for future generations.

FNWF is a not-for-profit initiative that highlights the intellect, creativity, and heritage of First Nations people across the Greater Pacific and beyond. It recognises Indigenous contributions not just in the arts, but also in sports, farming, mining, the NDIS, and caregiving roles.

Happening on 30-31 May 2025 in Townsville, the festival brings together local and international artists. It also offers an opportunity for sponsors and partners to support the ongoing advocacy of Indigenous storytelling.

By backing FNWF, partners can:

  • Commit to social impact: Indigenous stories will continue to be celebrated, championing diversity and inclusion
  • Increase reach: Utilise a potential monthly reach of over 500,000 on FNWF’s socials, and reach a live audience of over 250
  • Cement their legacy: Acquire naming rights for prestigious awards, such as the ‘Story Ambassador’ or ‘Living Treasure’
  • Support the next generation of First Nations storytellers: Make literary resources accessible to emerging writers, enabling FNWF to publish more completed manuscripts

Returning to host this year’s event is internationally recognised Disney choreographer and award-winning performer Peter Rockford Espiritu. The festival will also welcome past award winners, including John W Kuri (2023 Book Award), Marlene Dee Gray Potoura (2024 Book Award), and Richard Napam (2024 Book Award).

The festival will be packed with exciting activities honouring Indigenous literature, oral traditions, and artistic expression. The Supper Club on opening night will provide valuable networking opportunities, while the main program will feature eight book launches, nine award-winning authors, and the highly anticipated awards ceremony.

This year’s event is made possible by Anna Borzi and partners, including Rydges Sydney Airport and Rydges Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.
