The Sweetshop has welcomed filmmaker Beatrice Pegard to its New Zealand, Australian and Asian roster.
Pegard brings a mix of charm, cinematic style and comedic precision to the table, inviting viewers into her visual world that blends irreverence with a touch of surrealism, says The Sweetshop.
The Sweetshop NZ managing director and executive producer Ben Dailey says: “Beatrice’s work achieves a sense of geniality and warmth that brings the viewer into her world…and, it’s funny. Hard to do and even harder to master. We are excited about Bea’s future with Sweetshop.”
Global head of director development Greg Fyson adds, “I’m absolutely thrilled to welcome Beatrice Pegard to The Sweetshop. She’s an extraordinary talent whose style fuses bold craft with real emotional intelligence and humour. And with a PhD to her name, she makes me look smarter and cooler by association.”
A creative chameleon
Pegard moves between genres, cultures and formats, directing everything from short films and music videos to commercials for brands including Toyota, Nike, Ikea, Visa, Amex and Lidl.
Her work with long-time collaborator Grizzly Bear on their Mourning Sound video garnered over one million views worldwide.
She’s also gained recognition for her short films, which have been selected for major international festivals, such as SXSW.
Pegard is now available for commercial, branded and short-form projects across New Zealand, Australia and Asia through The Sweetshop.
