Independent agency Thompson Spencer is celebrating two finalist nods at the 2025 IAB New Zealand Digital Advertising awards.
The agency is a contender for Creative Agency of the Year, alongside FCB Aotearoa and TVNZ Blacksand.
This follows its landmark merger with Reason, announced back in April.
‘A huge honour’ – Thompson Spencer
Thompson Spencer’s second nod is in the Best Use of Social category. This recognised its school drop-off safety campaign for Auckland Transport. Fronted by Kiwi comedian Karen O’Leary, it used humour to encourage parents and caregivers to reflect on their behaviour.
“Being recognised for both our creativity at an overall level and specifically for our social messaging with Auckland Transport is a huge honour,” says Thompson Spencer co-CEO Melanie Spencer.
“We believe in strategies that get noticed, that are felt and talked about, and most importantly, acted on. Over the past year, we’ve put some truly impact-driving work into the world.
“I’m grateful to our clients for their trust and to our team for bringing their best to every project and every day. This is a proud Thompson Spencer moment indeed!”
Co-CEO Tim Pointer adds, “Our team lives and breathes full-funnel thinking. The AT Karen O’Leary campaign is a great example of how a human-first idea, custom-built for platforms and powered by performance, can deliver oversized outcomes for clients and communities.
“To also be recognised for Creative Agency of the Year speaks volumes about the insightfulness of that approach. From social-first activations to integrated brand platforms, we’re incredibly proud of the big bang our work is making in market.”
IAB New Zealand will announce the award winners on November 20.
