In September, New Zealand Blood Service launched an eight week nationwide multi-channel campaign to raise awareness of plasma donation.
Running in partnership with creative agency Remade, the campaign featured real plasma donors from across the country rolling up their sleeves to support the cause.
A precious gift
“Because the understanding of plasma donation is relatively low, our primary focus was on education,” says Clara McLaurin, founder and ECD of Remade.
“We wanted to bring this to life by focusing on the experience and the positive effect it can bring.”
When someone is diagnosed with kidney disease, cancer or suffers severe burns, their path to recovery and living with their new normal may seem to begin at that moment.
But because many rely on a plasma donation to treat and manage their condition, the journey to recovery starts long before diagnosis with a plasma donor who knew their help would be needed.

“Donors are incredible people who generously give their plasma to help someone they will never meet. We wanted to show how powerful plasma donation is, and to encourage more of us to give this precious gift,” McLaurin explains.
