Special took home a total of eight awards at the B&T Awards in Sydney, including the overall Grand Prix Agency of the Year.
In a statement from B&T the judges said: “Special by name, Special by nature. Was that gag a bit obvious? Perhaps. But what is also obvious is how remarkable the last 12 months have been for the New Zealand-born but world-conquering agency”.
Judges also awarded Special ‘Advertising Agency of the Year’, saying: “Special is one of the greatest agencies in the world, not just in Australia or its New Zealand homeland.
“It has become one of the rare independent agencies that operates with the scale and influence of a global network, without losing the agility, creative edge and cultural heartbeat of an indie. In a year defined by economic pressure, shrinking budgets and heightened competition, Special has only accelerated its position.
“What makes Special exceptional is the consistency and breadth of the work it puts out into the world. While many agencies point to one defining campaign, Special delivered world-class creative across 10 markets, powered by eight offices born from ANZ and driven by teams working across categories, channels and time zones.”
An incredible night
But it wasn’t just ‘Agency of the Year’ titles Special was taking home. The agency also won “Best Radio/Audio Campaign” for the already heavily awarded ‘Cold Call Back Service’ for DB Export; “Best Social Media Campaign” for Bond’s ‘Made from Down Under’, “Best Out-of-Home’ Campaign” for ‘Coopers Forever Original’ and “Best Digital Campaign” for ‘Mum-nipulated’ for Kitchen Warehouse.
“An incredible night for the whole Special team,” says Special founder Tony Bradbourne. “I could not be more proud of the huge effort, across so many clients and brands.”
