NZME has announced a partnership with Kiwi country music event Tussock Country as it returns to Gore in 2026.
This partnership marks NZME’s third collaboration with the festival, building on the success of previous events in 2023 and 2024.
For 2026, NZME’s newest audio brand – iHeartCountry NZ will lead the partnership, bringing the nation’s country music community together.
The perfect platform
Taking place over 10 days in May in eastern Southland, Tussock Country brings together rural communities and country music fans from across New Zealand through more than 80 events.
The festival celebrates music, food, rural life, entertainment and camaraderie, making it a perfect alignment with iHeartCountry NZ’s dedicated country music playlist, says NZME.
Jason Winstanley, chief audio officer, says: “Country music is experiencing a surge in popularity both globally and here in New Zealand. NZME was proud to launch our very own dedicated country music station earlier this year to meet that growing audience demand.
“Tussock Country is the perfect platform for iHeartCountry – we’re thrilled to be partnering with an event that celebrates everything we love about country music and rural New Zealand.”
Embody the heart and soul of rural NZ
Janine Tindall-Morice, NZME regional head – southern commercial, says: “NZME is focused on growing our presence and offering in the South Island and we’re delighted to be partnering for a third time with Tussock Country.
“The festival embodies the heart and soul of rural New Zealand and by bringing iHeartCountry NZ on board, we’re not only supporting a world-class event in our own backyard but we’re also strengthening our connection with our communities, audiences and advertising partners.”
Annabel Roy from Tussock Country Music Festival says: “Tussock Country supports dozens of community groups, hundreds of artists and entertains thousands of patrons every year. Partnering with a dedicated country music station amplifies what the festival stands for and helps us share that energy with even more fans.”
The festival runs from May 22-31, 2026 and will incorporate long-running highlights including the MLT NZ Gold Guitar Awards, Country Music Honours and the Freeze Ya Bits Off Busking competition.
