Klim & Onfire win at typeface design comps

NEW YORK, Monday: Two NZ winners have demonstrated their prowess at two global awards programmes from the Type Directors Club in the TDC67 Communication Design and 24TDC Typeface Design categories.

Klim Type Foundry Wellington received a 24TDC Certificate for its Signifier font, and Onfire Design Auckland won a TDC67 Certificate for Finery Cocktails packaging design on behalf of client The Fine People.

A total of 274 TDC Certificates — 254 for TDC67 and 20 for 24TDC — representing 39 countries were unveiled.

Top global winners this year were Collins New York and San Francisco, and Pentagram New York and London, each with eight TDC Certificates, and The New York Times Magazine with seven Certificates.

Australia scored two.

“The winners receive a certificate and digital tag certifying their work is among the world’s best of the year.”

TDC67, now in its 67th year, is all about how letterforms are used, recognising typographic excellence and innovation along with the art and craft of typography and design.

24TDC, in its 24th year, focuses on how letterforms are drawn, and celebrates new typeface designs in all global languages.

TDC67 and 24TDC winners receive a Certificate of Typographic Excellence and digital tag certifying their work is among the world’s best of the year.
