LONDON, Today: Graphic designer Russell Hooton-Fox – of leading Māori-owned, independent creative agency Run – has been nominated for the Design Week Rising Star Award in the UK for 2022. The award recognises a design industry star who has been in the industry for up to three years.
Russell the only entry from Aotearoa to be named in the shortlist.
Russell has already received accolades from AGDA and the NZ Best Awards during his time with Run.
“Russell is known for creating idea-led design that is well-researched and honest.”
Run creative director Raymond Otene McKay said: “Russell is known for creating idea-led design that is well-researched and honest, and he enjoys having people interact and connect with this work.
“We are very proud of him. He’s a key part of the Run whānau and it’s awesome to see his mahi being recognised at a global level.”
Run design director, Laura Cibilich said: “We are always pushing our young designers forward for these opportunities.
“Just last year Maria Philp was shortlisted for the AGDA Emerging Designer Award in 2021, a testament to the tuakana-teina concept we hold in the agency.”
