New hires for DRUM’s social and content team

With a succession of strategic new hires, award-winning agency DRUM has strengthened its social and content team, now led by newest recruit Sonia Kumar.

Kumar has joined as senior content and digital marketing director, her appointment bringing the DRUM content and social team to a total of six specialists.

Kumar has more than ten years’ experience working both client and agency side across a huge variety of FMCG, luxury and tourism brands in both New Zealand and the UK, and has been involved in all aspects of marketing communications, from award-winning product development to social media strategy, planning and content curation.

“Sonia’s strength in digital marketing and social media across a wide variety of categories is compelling for our clients and brings a new lens to our digital communications output,” says DRUM general manager, Katie Walton.

“I love to challenge the norm and help brands take their social and digital platforms to the next level,” says Kumar. “I’m excited to join DRUM to help ambitious brands be disruptive and impact culture, driving long-term measurable growth and ROI.”

The agency has also appointed Felicity Hopkinson as content and social creative director, and Jack Hall as designer, adding creative weight to DRUM’s short form content campaign outputs.

Hopkinson brings ten years of experience to the team, having recently worked on advertising campaigns, short films and music video production at Rankin Creative in London. Among her career highlights are working with Coco de Mer and the Desert Flower Foundation to campaign against Female Genital Mutilation, as well as short films to demand action on climate change with Extinction Rebellion and a Public Health England film narrated by William, Kate, Harry and Megan for mental health awareness week in the UK.

The team has a wealth of expertise ranging from digital strategy, sports marketing and gaming, to creative and short form content production, social management and amplification. 

“The growth of the team has been driven by client demand to provide a full suite of services; now that we have new capabilities in-house, it’s rewarding to see how this is already delivering a positive impact for our clients,” says Walton.
