Mango adds citrus to the fruit bowl with Sunkist win

AUCKLAND, Today: American citrus growers Sunkist has appointed Mango Communications Aotearoa as its PR and social agency for the New Zealand market, “helping to make noise about the brand on Kiwi shores”.

There was no pitch, and no incumbent.

Sunkist boasts an impressive range of over 40 different fruit varieties, including lemons, limes, oranges, and grapefruits. As part of MG Group – which also includes Mango client Dole NZ.

Mango head of digital & social Zoe Virtue said: “Sunkist is set to make a significant impact on the New Zealand fruit market and increase its presence in the industry.

“The partnership will see the agency provide bespoke New Zealand-centric social assets across Instagram and Facebook, alongside influencer content and partnerships.

“The partnership kicks off with a localised social media campaign, influencer content partnership and multiple influencer mailers to engage the local audience.

MG Group Auckland marketing executive Beena Bhana said: “We are impressed by the strategic, creative thinking of the Mango team and are confident they will be able to grow our presence across New Zealand.

“Having been exposed to the work they carried out for Dole, we were familiar with the value they bring to the table.

“Their expertise in the food and beverage industry will help us connect with our audience in exciting new ways and we’re looking forward to seeing where they will take Sunkist – it’s an exciting time for us.”

Zoe Virtue: While the iconic brand has previously been available in New Zealand, it has not had a social media campaign behind it before and the agency hopes will make a large impact across awareness and sales.

“We’re thrilled to join forces with Sunkist and bring some zesty communication strategies to the Kiwi market.

“Our team’s expertise in the food and beverage industry is a great perfect match for Sunkist’s offerings. Get ready for some refreshing campaigns and exciting collaborations.”
