AUCKLAND, Today: TVNZ has appointed Cate Slater to the newly created role of chief transformation officer, to lead a transition from a broadcast-based business to a digital-first media organisation.
Slater has been part of Te Reo Tātaki over 10 years, working in the legal & corporate affairs team and as GM/content rights, before her elevation, she was current role director of content.
TVNZ ceo Simon Power said: “Cate’s in-depth understanding of TVNZ’s content and audience proposition will help inform this significant strategic shift.
“TVNZ is embarking on a multi-year programme to evolve the business so it’s better able to meet the realities and expectations of modern audiences.
“This new role is critical to the success of our digital transformation.”

Nevak Rogers (Rongowhakaata/Tongan) will step into Slater’s old role as acting director of content. She has led TVNZ’s local content team for four years.
Simon Power: “She has a wealth of experience within New Zealand’s media and production sector, including overseeing commissioning, acquisitions, programming and internal production at Whakaata Māori prior to joining TVNZ.
