With the golden days of Twitter over, following Elon Musk purchasing the platform and changing its name to X, The Goat Farm with support from BusinessDesk, is hosting a “wake” for Twitter to “bury the bird” on November 1.
Goat Farm Founder and long-time Twitter user Vaughn Davis didn’t want Twitter to slip quietly into oblivion, and came up with the ideas to host a free Auckland after-work event, billed as part reunion, part celebration and part discussion about where social media is heading.
BusinessDesk Founder Pattrick Smellie will host a panel discussion on the highs and lows of Twitter, as well as what might come next.
David says that Bury the Bird will be an opportunity to draw a line under the Twitter era and look to the future. “Twitter has had some bad press over the last few years, but plenty of us remember the communities and friendships it helped form. We think that holding one last Tweetup is a great way to acknowledge that.”
BusinessDesk publisher Matt Martel says: “BusinessDesk is proud to support events that encourage quality debate and sharing opinions, such as Bury the Bird. We’re really looking forward to the event and to hearing insights and opinions from the range of panellists, including our very own BusinessDesk editor Pattrick Smellie.”
Bury the Bird is a free event with drinks and nibbles provided, but registration is essential at https://www.tickettailor.com/events/burythbirdfreeticket/1024628
