Programmatic

In a world where nearly everyone is always online, there is no offline.

Stuff launches MoneyStuff

Stuff Digital has launched MoneyStuff, creating a new destination for Stuff’s personal finance content.

It features interactive tools, proprietary research and practical guidance to help Kiwis make better money decisions. The move builds on the success of HealthStuff, which attracted more than 500,000 visitors in its first four weeks.

The new interactive Wealth Comparison tool reveals how New Zealanders stack up against others in their age group and region across everything from their financial situation and confidence to their guilty splurges and million-dollar daydreams.

MoneyStuff’s new direction and comparison tool is fueled by Wealth of the Nation, the second in Stuff’s proprietary national research series, following Health of the Nation.

Practical advice

Stuff Digital managing director Nigel Tutt says a consistent finding across both the Health and Wealth studies is that misinformation and confusion are holding Kiwis back.

“Kiwis are over trying to work out what’s real and who to listen to. With more Kiwis choosing stuff.co.nz for their news than any other news website, HealthStuff and MoneyStuff reflect our focus on journalism that helps people make sense of not only the headlines, but the everyday decisions that follow.”

Rather than sitting as a static report, the nationally representative Wealth of the Nation research is embedded throughout the MoneyStuff experience, delivering insights, shaping editorial coverage and powering the new interactive Wealth Comparison tool.

It also highlights why expert journalism on money and wealth is so important right now:

  • More than half of New Zealanders say conflicting financial advice is the biggest barrier to improving their finances.
  • Fewer than half have talked openly about money with friends, exposing the taboo still surrounding personal finances.
  • 68% of Kiwis define wealth as owning property.

Meet Kiwis’ needs

Stuff.co.nz life content director Ellen Read says money touches every part of our lives, and we need to get more comfortable talking about it. MoneyStuff is designed to meet that need, reflecting how Kiwis want journalism about money and wealth to evolve.

“People don’t just want another story telling them the cost of living is tough, they want practical guidance to make better decisions.

“By combining expert journalism with unique research and interactive tools, readers can see how they compare with other New Zealanders, which helps open up the conversation.”

The refreshed MoneyStuff proposition has been brought to life through an eight-month partnership with Fisher Funds.
