AUCKLAND, Today: NZ’s weekly, monthly, bimonthly, quarterly and six-monthly magazine titles tumbled in the latest Nielsen magazine readership toplines for Q3/2019 to Q2/2020.
The figures – massively distorted by the closure of Bauer’s titles – are bound to change as several top mastheads return under new owners (including North & South, Fashion Quarterly, NZ Woman’s Weekly and the NZ Listener and Home).
Bi-monthly NZ Geographic is one of the few titles to increase readership (up to 342,000 from 330,000), as did free quarterly AA Directions (to 921,000 from 900,000).
“The figures – distorted by the closure of Bauer’s titles – are bound to change as several top mastheads return under new owners.”
Cuisine bi-monthly was down from 280,000 to 251. Dish fell from 162,000 to 155,000. And Mindfood was down to 214,000 from 241,000.
Hunting & Fishing (a quarterly) fell from 585,000 to 499,000.
But weekly Time magazine was up (from 122,000 to 130,000), and OHbaby rose from 81,000 to 86,000.
Six-monthly title Habitat was down to 217,000 (from 233,000).
