Daniel Faitaua nominated in prestigious FPA Media Awards

TVNZ are “proud as punch” that European correspondent Daniel Faitaua has been nominated in the Story about Britain category for his Nurse Jenny exclusive in the prestigious FPA Media Awards – and he’s in good company.

Dubbed “the Oscars of Journalism”, the annual Foreign Press Association Media Awards are among the most prestigious awards ceremonies in the world.

Dedicated to celebrating excellence in journalism, the Awards present a unique opportunity for journalists to be recognised by their international peers. British and International entries are welcome from all the world’s major broadcasters, newspapers, digital news and magazines.

Guests of Honour have included the Former Prime Minister of Italy, Senator Mario Monti, HM Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan, HRH the Prince of Wales, HM King Felipe VI of Spain, former Mayor of London Boris Johnson, three other British Foregin Secretaries, the US Ambassador Matthew Barzun and, in 2015, Sir Venki Ramakrishnan, Nobel Prize Winner and first ever Indian President of the Royal Society.

Faitaua’s ‘The Kiwi nurse who helped save UK Prime Minister’s life from Coronavirus’ has been shortlisted in the ‘Story about Britain by a Full Member of the FPA’ category.

Kirsty Way, TVNZ GM Corporate Relations, says that while Faitaua fronted the story and Martin Anderson shot it, it should be noted that this was a real team effort with Audrey Malone actually securing the interview and TVNZ Foreign Editor, Tom Selman, producing it.

The 2020 FPA Media Awards will be held virtually as a live reveal, with the winners announced on fpalondonawards.org in the early evening of 23rd November.

The judging panels will be comprised of international journalists from all over the world. They will be joined for the final round by senior external judges drawn from the British media.
