SYDNEY, Monday: Today, Getty Images, Dove and Girlgaze have unveiled their latest #ShowUs Grant launches, which will award two grants of $ US5000 to Australian or NZ women, female-identifying and non-binary individuals who submit against the brief of representing women and non-binary leadership in all its forms.
“A Getty spokesperson said: Whilst the Project #ShowUs collection is making a huge impact in moving the advertising industry toward more authentic and inclusive portrayals of women, with downloads exceeding 42,000, more still needs to be done.
“Only 14% of women in AUNZ said they are well represented in advertising.”
“Research from Getty Images’ Visual GPS report reveals:
- Only 14% of women in AUNZ said they are well represented in advertising
- Only 10% consider themselves well represented in communications from companies they do business.
- Of those AUNZ women who reported feeling discriminated against, 51% said it is because of their body, shape or size
- 29% reported discrimination because of the way they look, dress or present themselves.”
Grant entries are now open for Australian and New Zealand photographers here
